When my step-dad passed away it was a similar thing.....doctors had given him a clean bill of health just weeks before, and then one day he was gone. Although he had ongoing heart health issues none of us expected it to happen when it did. I've experienced other losses in my life, thankfully most of them have been when they were older so it wasn't as unexpected as this one was, but it's a loss nonetheless.
As my friend and I were talking we were just so taken aback by the suddenness of how life can just end without warning. She commented that even if you develop cancer or another scary disease there is no guarantee that is what is going to take you, so you just don't ever know. She is so right.
It's so easy to get caught up in life......to think we have all kinds of time to accomplish everything. Then the truth catches you off guard and makes you feel so vulnerable. The only thing we can do is live life to the fullest and don't leave anything unsaid. When and if that day comes for someone you love, grieve and then find a way to be happy that the person you lost found their way into your life and cherish the memories you made together. Life can end in the blink of an eye so live life, and live with no regrets.
